You’ve all heard about it… drinking around the world at Epcot… but have you ever done it? We hadn’t… which is why I thought it’d be a fun meetup event to do on a Saturday (for those that don’t know, I have a meetup group that I started last year for Disney fans…it’s super fun group, but more on that later - I’ll do a blog post on the group soon)!
In this post, I will explain what exactly drinking around the world means, and how to go about doing it successfully!
First things first… if you’re wondering what exactly “drinking around the world” is… I’m here to explain! Drinking around the world is basically just that… getting a drink at each country in World Showcase at Epcot. There are 11 countries (not including the African Outpost), which means you would need to get 11 drinks to complete the tour. People do this all different ways… you can drink in each country or you could eat and sample a unique snack/meal from the various countries (It’s up to you)!
Now that we have the basics covered, let’s get into the helpful tidbits I picked up while doing the drink around the world tour.
Have a game plan. Which country are you going to start with (Canada OR Mexico). We opted to start in Mexico and end in Canada.
Allow for ample time to meander and drink. You don’t want to feel sick... so pace yourself.
Have a designated driver. This one is obvious. Drink responsibly.
Share drinks. Eric and I split every drink (there is no way I could’ve consumed all of that alcohol on my own).
Don’t forget to eat. We had snack early on and then halfway through grabbed dinner in Morocco.
Water is your friend… drink it!
Research drinks beforehand. I looked up the best drinks to get in each country so that I had a list of what to get so I always knew where to go and generally what to order.
Don’t rush through. We allowed for 6 hours to complete the whole world. We started at 3 and ended at 9 in Canada and watched Illuminations. Honestly, I’ve walked all of world showcase in less than an hour, so I worried we’d be done by 6… but we took our time, chatted with each other and really just enjoyed the afternoon.
Dress appropriately. Themed tees are not required, but totally add to the fun! Our shirts were from the Lost Bros (they have the BEST drinking around the world tees)! And don’t forget some unique park ears, like the laser cut acrylic ones I'm wearing! Shop my ears here.
Take a backpack. Weather can be unpredictable in Florida, so it’s always a good idea to have a poncho and umbrella handy (plus, I had some water bottles in my pack).
Take photos. I’m big on documenting EVERYTHING, so I snapped photos of each drink and videoed our reactions. It’s fun to look back on.
