NYE at Epcot - Part 2

In the last post, I talked about what led to Eric and I hitting up Epcot for New Year's Eve and where we ate (you can read that post here). In this post I'm going to talk all about the entertainment!

When we finished dinner, even though we took our time and had the most relaxing meal, it was still only a little past 6, which meant we still had 6 hours to go! On our way out of the buffet, we got some coffee and headed to the Pixar short film festival. This was our first time seeing this and we really enjoyed gettinng to sit back and enjoy some cartoons for a bit. Since we were in the area, we hit up Journey into Imagination next. There appeared to be a somewhat long line for this (it actually wrapped outside)! If I remember correctly, the line seemed longer than it was (the sign must have had said 30 minutes or so... I don't think we would have waited if it was any longer)!

By the time we were done on Figment, it was close to 8pm and time to meet our friend! We spent quite a bit of time up near Spaceship Earth. This is where quite a bit of the entertainment was. Silent disco and DJ dance party were all in this vicinity. As much as I REALLY wanted to dance around wearing huge headphones, the line for the silent disco was actually kind of long, so I watched from afar. However, I did get my groove on over at the dance party, which was so much fun! There was a stage set up with a DJ and he played an asortment of tunes. This was the main dance party in Epcot, so the crowd was large and the enegy was amazing!

Behind the DJ you could see Spaceshp Earth, which they had projected a HUGE clock onto so everyone could keep track of the time (and the countdown)! After dancing around for a bit, it was time for our fast passes (Soarin' and Spaceship Earth)! I highly recommend getting Fastpasses if you plan to visit Epcot on NYE... It helps break up the time.

After we got our ride fix, we made our way around the world showcase. We started in Canada and slowly made our way around, taking in all of the sights. There was a ton of people EVERYWHERE, but even though it was busy, it actually was not as bad as I had thought it would be. We were able to walk around and stop for drinks, with no problem. Yes, it was busier than usual and lines were slightly longer, but nothing outrageous (I had read somewhere lines to go to the bathroom were close to 2 hours)! I did not expereince that.

What was super fun and highly enjoyable were all of the dance parties throughout World Showcase. In Italy they blasted techno music and had an array of lasers. In China, they had a HUGE dragon that every so often would breathe fire...it was INCREDIBLE!

Before we knew it, it was close to midnight! We found a spot to watch the fireworks near over the lake . We didn't want to get to close to the show because we feared leaving the park would be dreadful! The spot we found was right below  the monorail, in front of Spaceship Earth. We didn't have to wait too long for the show to start, which was nice. They started a bit before midnight because they actually celebrated New Year's for each Country at Epcot. With each country, they played music native to that particular destination as fireworks illuminated the sky. Once it was midnight and time for America to say Happy New Year, everyone was beyond pumped!

The fireworks were unbelievable! And they just kept going and going!

New Year's Eve at Epcot, is hands down one of my fave things and I can honestly say we WILL be back next year! I think I'm going to make it a tradition actually!
